Tour Pro Golf Clubs Reveals the Clubs Behind Justin Rose’s PGA Tour Win

Following the successful launch of new golfing website Tour Pro Golf Clubs last week, the Tour Pro Insider can reveal the clubs used by world number seven Justin Rose, who prevailed at the recent WGC Cadillac Open at Doral in Florida.

Tour Pro Golf Clubs uses inside information gathered from PGA and European Tour events across the globe to help inform golf fans on precisely which brand of clubs and equipment their favourite players endorse. This allows budding golfers to get closer to replicating the feats of the likes of Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods than ever before.

The WGC Cadillac Championship, hosted at the TPC Blue Monster at Doral, Florida was the first port of call for the Tour Pro Insider following the launch of the new Tour Pro Golf Clubs website and he witnessed a thrilling win for Justin Rose.

Rose held off a spirited challenge from new world number one Rory McIlroy – who eventually finished back in third – and the talented American Bubba Watson, to clinch the biggest PGA Tour win of his career to date.

His progress around The Blue Monster course was followed closely by the Tour Pro Insider, after he tipped Rose as a good outside bet to take the tournament days before the South African-born Englishman set foot on the first tee at Doral.

These close observations, along with extensive research gathered following the European and PGA Tours for numerous years, allowed the professional golf expert to determine the exact clubs Rose used to conquer The Blue Monster and card 16 under par for the tournament – one shot ahead of Watson.

Golf enthusiasts can visit Tour Pro Golf Clubs online to find out how Rose’s golf bag compared to that of his rivals. Users will also find the full leaderboard from the WGC Cadillac Championship, complete with the preferred brand of clubs endorsed by each pro player.

Record year for The Golfers Club

The UK’s #1 specialist golf insurance and benefits provider experiences success in 2011 despite difficult UK golf market…

The Golfers Club, the UK’s leading specialist golf insurance and benefits provider, has announced record new policy sales in 2011. The company more than doubled the number of new policy sales compared to 2010 and increased the total number of The Golfers Club policy holders by 28%. The announcement follows the trend set by market-leaders in specialist golf insurance, Golf Care, who announced similar success late last year, highlighting the growing number of golfers in the UK taking up a specialist golf insurance policy. In difficult economic times, golfers are placing greater importance on being properly insured and have likely been influenced by the landmark case in November 2011 that saw a golfer awarded almost £400,000 in damages after being struck by a wayward shot from an adjacent hole.

The court case undoubtedly contributed to a spike in sales, with new policy holders almost trebling in November and December compared to the same period in 2010. However, several other innovations throughout 2011 can also be attributed for the uptake in membership, including the introduction of its new Bronze Policy in March. For less than £40 a year, The Golfers Club offers premium product at value price and offers customers the added flexibility of building their own insurance product by adding the likes of worldwide coverage. With The Golfers Club, policy holders only pay for the cover that they need.

“We’re thrilled by the announcement of the recent figures,” commented Paul Wilson, Director, The Golfers Club. “It’s great news that fewer golfers are risking serious financial damages through the security of specialist golf insurance. We work hard to tailor our policies to people’s individual needs, ensuring they remain flexible and affordable, and we’re delighted to see that people are choosing to be insured with us. ”

In addition to a comprehensive insurance policy, members of The Golfers Club are entitled to a host of added value benefits such as five free rounds of golf at some of the country’s best golf courses, including the likes of Ryder Cup host venue, The Celtic Manor Resort. With over 62 courses to choose from, members can save up to£340 on green fees. Furthermore, members are given a welcome pack that includes gifts from TaylorMade and John Letters, plus over 30 benefits from a comprehensive list of partners, such as, Marriott Golf Resorts, De Vere, GreenFree, Your Golf Travel, Q Hotels, Direct Golf UK, Macdonald Hotels, and Crown Golf.

Underwritten by Lloyds of London, The Golfers Club was launched in 1998 and with a growing number of golfers recognising the importance of golf insurance, The Golfers Club has continued to establish itself as one of the UK’s leading specialist golf insurers. An array of policy options have been priced to match individuals golfers needs, whilst all policies include dental treatment, hole-in-one protection, third party damage, personal liability and personal accident coverage as standard.

Whether it is the recently introduced Bronze Policy that covers golf equipment up to£1000 in the UK, or the Platinum Policy which extends worldwide and up to the equipment value of £5000, The Golfers Club has a policy to best suit every golfers needs.

Warning For Golfers As Player Awarded £400k After Losing Eye

Leading UK golf insurance specialist Golf Care has urged players to ensure they take out sufficient protection before stepping onto the course.

The warning comes after a Scottish court ordered a golfer and a golf club to pay damages of almost £400,000 following an accident which led to an amateur player losing an eye after being struck by a ball.

A judge at the Court of Session in Edinburgh ruled on Friday that 44-year-old Anthony Phee from Sale, Greater Manchester, should receive £397,000 in damages – 30 per cent of which will be paid by Niddry Castle Golf Club at Winchburgh, in West Lothian, where the incident took place and 70 per cent by the golfer who struck the wayward shot.

The case has highlighted the importance of individual golfers having specialist golf insurance which covers them for eventualities such as this that can potentially occur on the golf course.

John Woosey, managing director of Golf Care, said: “It’s worrying that nine out of 10 golfers aren’t adequately covered when they step on the course. Mr Phee’s case proves that accidents happen and can cost golfers a fortune.”

The UK’s leading specialist golf insurance provider, Golf Care, offers policies that would have covered the liable golfer for this sort of incident which left the visiting player with only one eye after he was struck by a wayward tee-shot.

Mr Woosey added that in many cases, golfers think their home insurance will cover them for damage or personal liability, but the truth is that an inexpensive specialist golf insurance policy is the best way to ensure that individual golfers are adequately covered.

He said: “This sort of incident highlights just how dangerous a golf course can be, and a pay-out of £397,000 is a staggering amount.”

“The vast majority of golfers don’t realise how easy it is to compare golf insurance and aren’t properly covered. But whether you’re a single figure
handicapper or a golfing novice, we all hit poor shots. Why take the risk when for less than £30 a year you can be fully covered for incidents such as this – a small fee to pay for peace of mind every time you step onto the course.”

Big Names Advance In The Matchplay Championship

Celebrities, defending champions, and past winners emerge unscathed from the first round of the UK’s biggest amateur golf tournament.

The highly-anticipated first round of the Matchplay Championship, the UK’s biggest amateur golf tournament, has come to a close with some familiar names emerging unscathed to book their place in the next round of the prestigious event. Reigning Men’s Pairs Champions Andy Castell and Andy Billson from Collingtree Park, plus last year’s Mixed Pairs winners Paul Fell and Joanne Beddows of Clays Golf Club, are two of the teams to advance and move a step closer to the Sky Sports televised Grand Final in Dubai. It won’t be an easy passage for Castell and Billson in the Men’s Pairs event however, as the likes of England Rugby World Cup winning Head Coach Sir Clive Woodward and his partner Peter Yates of the British Olympic Association are also still in the running.

“As the biggest event in tournament history, we’re obviously thrilled to see some of the seasoned campaigners emerging. However, there are a lot of new faces ready to knock them off their perch,” commented John Woosey, Managing Director of The JRW Group. “Having the likes of Sir Clive and Peter involved, speaks volumes about the calibre of the event and validates our position as one of the leading amateur golf tournaments in Europe.”

The second-round draw has been made and thrown up a host of interesting match-ups when play commences on Monday the 26th September. None more so than the Mixed Pairs tie between 2011 champions Fell and Beddows and 2009 Winners Steve Aylott and Lesley Mifsud. Other notables in the draw include the top-3 from last year’s Men’s Pairs championship, including runners-up Chris Scott-Douglas and Mike Ankers from The Midlands, as well as the third-placed team of Shaun Welch and Elliot Bates of Broke Hill GC, Kent. The top-3 finishers from last year’s Mixed Pair’s event also remain, in the shape of Mike Perry and Samantha Hill from Isle of Purbeck, and the husband and wife pairing of Barry and Fanny King from Wimbledon.

The ultimate goal for the competitors is a place in the Grand Final where they’ll be whisked off to enjoy 7-nights luxurious accommodation at the Dubai Marriott Courtyard Hotel and four rounds of golf at the world-renowned Els Club. The once-in-a-lifetime prize is on offer to the 40 competitors who make it out of the Regional Finals in March, which are held at two prominent Marriott venues in the UK.

Greenfree Vouchers ‘Good For Golf’ According To Leading Online Golf Forum

Leading golf publication’s poll confirms overwhelming support for 2-for-1 green fee schemes.

The wide-reaching popularity of GreenFree, the home of 2-for-1 golf, and similar green fee schemes was confirmed recently, as a leading golf publications’ online poll showed overwhelming support amongst UK golfers. Conducted on the online forum of one of the golf industry’s oldest and most respected golf magazines, the poll received hundreds of respondents, 84% of which were in support of green fee vouchers. The overwhelming support confirms the high regard that golfers hold schemes such as GreenFree, whose vouchers can be redeemed at an impressive portfolio of over 1,000 courses in the UK and Ireland, including Marriott Forest of Arden, The Grove and The Carrick on Loch Lomond.

“We’re thrilled with the result of the poll, which proves that golfers in the UK see the value in the GreenFree product and understand that it has wide-reaching benefits for the game,” commented Dave Lynchehaun, GreenFree Brand Manager. “We’ve worked hard to provide consumers with an unrivalled network of courses to redeem their vouchers at, and are proud to have strong relationships with some of the best-known courses in the UK. Most people note the flexibility of the product for its continued popularity as GreenFree doesn’t commit people to specific tee-times. More and more golfers are taking advantage of the scheme, which is great for the sport, increasing participation and giving golfers the opportunity to play at fantastic venues.”

Continually growing in popularity since its launch in 2001, GreenFree is one of the best value green fee options in terms of variety and affordability. Offering golfers the chance to play new courses, whilst providing increased revenue for golf clubs, GreenFree 2-for-1 vouchers align the best interests of golfers and golf clubs alike.

NYC Firefighters Donate World Trade Center Artifact To Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday

To mark the 10-year anniversary of the 9-11 tragedy, New York City firefighters will donate a ribbon beam from the fallen North Tower of the World Trade Center to Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday, according to the golf marketing cooperative. The donation will be made on Wednesday, May 25 at 5:00 p.m. at Springmaid Pier in Myrtle Beach. The presentation will be part of the events surrounding the 10th Annual FDNY 9-11 Memorial Golf Outing, May 22-26, 2011.

The permanent location for the beam will be determined this summer with a dedication ceremony scheduled near the time of the 10-year anniversary of the worst terrorist attack in U.S. history. The golf event will mark the first significant gathering and remembrance of the 10-year anniversary of the 9-11 tragedy in the United States. “We are honored that the New York City area firefighters would provide such a gesture of thanks to us for the years they have held their memorial golf tournament in Myrtle Beach,” said Bill Golden, president of Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday. “We will work with the city of Myrtle Beach to find an appropriate location to dedicate the beam, so we will never forget the tragic events of 9-11.”

Developed by New York City firefighter, Kevin O’Brien, the FDNY 9-11 Memorial Golf Ball Tournament raises money for The Thomas Elsasser Fund, a charity backed by the United Firefighters Association (UFA) and designed to benefit families of fallen firefighters. The tournament provides an opportunity for firefighters, many who assisted in the recovery efforts at Ground Zero, to gather together in the “Golf Capital of the World” for camaraderie and to remember fallen heroes from 9-11. The tournament is an offspring of O’Brien’s original event, the Alfred E. Ronaldson Spring Golf Classic, which was designed in 1992 to benefit the Ronaldson family following his death. Ronaldson was a member of Rescue 3 in the Bronx and died in 1991.

“We are very appreciative to Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday for hosting our event for the last ten years,” said O’Brien. “While remembering 9-11 each year is painful and brings back memories of the horror of 9-11, it is also a time where fellow firefighters can gather, pay tribute to their fallen heroes and build a unique bond and brotherhood with people from all over the country who converge on Myrtle Beach for this annual event.” Over the years, more than 6,000 firefighters have participated in the FDNY 9-11 Memorial Golf Outing with over $300,000 raised for the Thomas Elsasser Fund.

More than 800 firefighters from 15 states and Canada are expected to participate in the FDNY 9-11 Memorial Golf Outing. The Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday member golf courses hosting rounds for this year’s event include: Aberdeen Golf Club; Arrowhead Country Club; Blackmoor Golf Club; Burning Ridge Golf Club; Caledonia Golf & Fish Club; Farmstead Golf Club; Grande Dunes (Resort Course); Indian Wells Golf Club; International Club; Legends Golf Resort; Long Bay Club; Man O’War G.C.; Meadowlands Golf Club; Myrtle Beach National’s SouthCreek Course and West Course; Myrtlewood Golf Club; Prestwick Country Club; River’s Edge; Shaftesbury Glen Golf Club; Tidewater Golf Plantation; The Pearl (East); True Blue Plantation; The Witch Golf Club; TPC Myrtle Beach; Wachesaw East Golf Club; Tradition Club; Waterway Hills; Willbrook Plantation; and World Tour Golf Links.

On the 15th when Andy hit it in the hazard but amazingly the ball was playable and he managed to got it greenside. He ended up chipping it in for a birdie and four points, which took us into the lead.

I know the players have had an unbelievable experience, so a big thanks go out to all the sponsors who without their support none of this would be possible.”

GreenFree member clubs acknowledge the sales opportunity and marketing support offered by the UK’s premier 2-for-1 golf scheme

GreenFree, the home of 2-for-1 golf, has been lauded by leading golf clubs for the additional income that it helps generate for clubs across the UK and Ireland. With many golf clubs looking at ways to generate additional income in a difficult economic environment, and some experiencing declining membership numbers, GreenFree has been recognised for bringing in additional revenue through attracting visiting golfers with the offer of half price green fees at selected times.

A recent survey of over 16,000 golfers showed that GreenFree voucher users bring in an additional £36 per person on average in the golf shop and clubhouse, over and above the green fee. With the average green fee at nearly £29, that works out at around £65 per person, or £130 per 2-ball.

“Our association with GreenFree has enabled us to develop an important additional green fee revenue stream,” noted Iain Burns, Director of Golf, Marriot Forest of Arden Hotel & Country Club.

“Being listed as a GreenFree venue and benefiting from the marketing activity has definitely increased Mottram Hall’s visibility on a national basis,” commented Tim Hudspith, Director of Golf, De Vere Mottram Hall. “There is no doubt that this has given us a competitive advantage locally when it comes to attracting visitors from a wider catchment area.”

Brian Connor, Head Professional Manchester Golf Club also added, “The beauty of the GreenFree scheme is that we have generated traffic on the days and times when the bulk of the membership doesn’t tend to play. The scheme allows us to set the rules so we are maximising our inventory without upsetting our members – a great win-win situation.”

Around 950 courses are available to GreenFree voucher holders, all of whom receive free marketing exposure via GreenFree’s website, directory and extensive email database. Much of the scheme’s success is based on member golf clubs being able to set their own restrictions, making it possible for traditional clubs to maintain their exclusivity. Certain times of the day or days of the week can be highlighted for GreenFree users, ensuring little disruption to the members’ experience and therefore a win/win for golfers and clubs alike.

A resounding success amongst golfers and golf clubs, GreenFree looks set to go from strength to strength in the coming season.

Golf Teen Sensation, Zakiya Randall, ‘Z’ – a WONDER-2-See, gives back on-and-off the TEE

As much as teen golf phenom Zakiya “Z” Randall of Atlanta impresses with her shotmaking, it’s her giving back that even further defines this young lady.

“I enjoy the difference I am making in the lifes of people” Those are wise words coming from a teen, but Zakiya is not your ordinary teenager. A standout-star golf player, Zakiya “Z” may often be a young female golfer amongst men and professional women(due to lack of elite girls and women amateur events) when she tees it up. But her talented golf skills – and her maturity – extend well beyond her years.

“Pretty incredible” is how Wolf Creek PGA Golf Professional Randy Grebeck and Andre Jones defines the club’s girl wonder. A regular at Wolf Creek, Zakiya has put together an impressive resume. At the very beginning, age 10 years old when she began playing, Zakiya received “The Player of The Year” award after she won every local tournament she entered. Continuing her run of success as a champion, she took her golf game nationally and won majors around the country and was crowned the ‘Championship Title’ on a National level.

Giving her fans a continuum follow-up of nothing but conquering the green, Z won every tournament and championship entered which led her to the Championship division on the popular Georgia PGA Tour. From the success at such a young age to the style that she brings to the world sport of Golf, Z continues to demonstrate mere perseverance, strength, power, and positive enlightenment.

150,000 Milestone Acheived By Rewards4Golf

Rewards4golf.com, the UK’s largest loyalty scheme for golfers, has just registered its 150,000th golfing member.

The historic milestone, just two years after the site was launched, makes it one of the most successful sports’ related rewards schemes in the UK.

“The interest from the UK golfers in the Rewards4Golf scheme has been unbelievable. But as it’s free to register and participate perhaps it’s easy to understand why we’ve reached 150,000 registrations so quickly,” said Commercial Director, Colin Whitehead.

“As more and more retailers join the scheme it is becoming even easier for our members to collect points and redeem them for the golf products they want,” added Colin.

Rewards4golf.com is the only specialist golf rewards scheme where members earn points for every pound they spend with some of the UK’s most popular retailers including Tesco, John Lewis, Littlewoods, Currys, Marks & Spencer, Halfords, Superdrug and Amazon.

They can also earn points when spending with some of the UK’s best known golf specialists including Direct Golf UK, Golfbreaks.com, Golf Insurance provider Golf Care, golf vouchers scheme GreenFree and The Golfers Club golf discount membership.

Neil Bell, Managing Director of Direct Golf UK commented, “All our customers can earn Rewards4Golf points every time they shop with us, whether on-line or in-store. We’re the only golf retailer that they can earn points with which gives Direct Golf UK customers a little bit extra and another reason to come back to us, which I’m delighted to say, they do”.

Golf Care Sponsors Cheadle Golf Club’s 125th Year Challenge

Golf Care, the UK’s largest provider of specialist golf insurance, has sponsored Cheadle Golf Club’s ‘Quasquicetennial’ golf challenge to celebrate its 125th anniversary and raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.

The ’Golf Care Trophy’ will be presented to the winners of the historic club’s challenge against Hesketh Golf Club, which is also celebrating the same milestone this year.

The first leg of the two part mixed greensome challenge took place on Thursday, July 8, where Cheadle led Hesketh six games to two. The second leg will take place at Hesketh in September at a date to be announced.

“We are delighted to sponsor such a fantastic club as Cheadle which is right on our doorstep and at the same time help raise money for such a worthy cause as the Alzheimer’s Society,” said Golf Care Commercial Director, Colin Whitehead.

“It’s intriguing to think when the home of the ‘Golf Care Trophy’ is decided in September, will someone, in another 125-years time, get it out of the display cabinet, dust it off and think about that inaugural match all those years ago,” he added.

Set up in 1885 by the Milne family who owned Kendal Milne department store, the club is the second oldest club in Cheshire and boasts a popular clubhouse as well as club PGA professional Anthony Millar.

Captain Ian Haig has chosen the Alzheimer’s Society as his charity in its‘Quasquicetennial’ year and is aiming to raise £1,250 throughout the year. And the club has received a letter of support from the Queen for their fund raising efforts on such a special anniversary.

“We are extremely grateful to have Golf Care on board sponsoring the challenge in what is such a historic year for the club,” he said.

“They are one of the most respected golfing brands in the UK and we are thrilled that they have backed us in our celebrations and fund-raising.”
